December 29, 2007 the last race of the year was met with near freezing temperatures. The pictures show that the runners had dressed appropriately for the competition.  167 runners braved the cold to participate in the 3K, 8K and Kids’ 1K.  This race was about numerous individual accomplishments.

Alex Wallace (M 16-19) ran the 3K and came in second behind the overall winner Clint Bell. Alex set a new age group record of 9:33 surpassing the Dec. 1997 record by 22 seconds. His determination to give 100% was evident as he appeared to sprint all the way from the bridge to the finish line. A remarkable race by one of our high school seniors.
The fast Hendrix twins (11 year-olds Luke and Logan) were 6th and 7th.  Amazingly, 5th and 8th were another pair of twins - 15 year-olds Shane(#401) and Aaron Purser(#405).
Dewey Fambry also set a new age group record in the 3K.  James Matthews is the 2007 winner of the Prediction Run Contests(Most Points and Least Seconds).  William Jones proudly holds his 1st place age group trophy.
Dewey Fambry (M 75-79) ran the 3K course in 16:15 in route to setting a new age group record by 00:58 seconds. The plaque awarded to Dewey last month will have to be recalled and updated with his latest record.

Bronda Starling and Mike Colvin.  Bronda continues to race despite undergoing cancer treatments.

Joe Liechty set a new age group record in the 8K.  Wendy Teutsch lowered her own Athena 3K record she set last year.
Joe Liechty (M 70-74) ran the 8K in 35:48 surpassing the record established in April 2003 by 3:35 .  That is a 7:12 pace.  You may need a little time to process that achievement.  His pace of 7:12 would be competitive in any age group.
Wendy Teutsch (F 30-34) must save her best runs for the month of December. Last year at the December race she established an Athena record in the 3K of 17:57. This year she gave herself a late Christmas present and ran the course in 17:55. Congratulations on improving on your record.
Harold Recinos (M 50-54), placed 3rd in his age-group in the 8K in 34:45. His 8 year old son, Elijah , told his father he would like to run. Harold changed his membership from an individual to a family and immediately Elijah was a bib carrying Plano Pacer member. In his first race, he ran the Kids' 1K and came in first in his age group with a time of 6:00. Congratulations to both on becoming a winning running family.
The Kids' K had a very competitive group.  Meghan Barnes (in pink) won by a second over Ashton Keen (#396) who was also the 3K female winner.
Jennifer Rutledge and Carol Lindenblatt gave out the trophies.
Our volunteers did a great job. A special thanks to Ken Ashby for re-routing the 8K due to trail construction activities.
